Invaderspace currently hosts jiu jitsu classes on Tuesdays and Saturdays (details can be found by clicking the jiu jitsu link on the homepage), but we plan on doing so much more. Here’s a glimpse of what’s to come.
- Full service recording studio
- Music lessons. This will include guitar, bass, and beginner drum lessons, as well as instruction in the recording arts.
- Live music performances. We have the PA system, we have microphones, and the experience. We want the stage at Invaderspace to be a showcase of local and up and coming talent. Eventually, we’d like to invite touring acts to make Invaderspace a stop on their itinerary.
- Retro gaming events and meet ups. We aim to have classic console and arcade gaming available at our community events and during retro game themed meet ups. We already have multiple classic gaming consoles and multiple arcade machines. Some of them need repair. Some are ready to go! Come play a classic game and set a new Invaderspace high score!
- Film screenings. Invaderspace is equipped with a 12′ x 6.5′ screen with 4k projection. We’re excited to host film premieres for independent film makers and showings of film classics. Our hope is to focus on genre film, cult classics, and oft overlooked gems from the history of film.
- Community theatre, children’s theatre, and stage performances. We’re looking for collaborators to bring creative local works to the Invaderspace stage. If you have stage experience and would like to see a platform for the theatre arts to flourish locally, we’d love to hear your ideas and get your input.
- Community open house events. We’d like to meet you, create things together, and simply enjoy a nice conversation. Invaderspace plans on being open on a scheduled and regular basis to host community meet ups, open mic nights, and whatever the space seems appropriate for.
- Invaderspace is generally open to creative ideas that overlap well with our stated intent and mission. Reading our “Welcome to Invaderspace” letter on our homepage (or by clicking on the “About Invaderspace” tab on the homepage) should give you an idea of where we’re coming from and should let you know if we’d be suitable collaborators for your project. When in doubt, simply ask. Email invader-e@invaderspace for info on collaborating, general feedback, or questions.
